Richard Willemssen…97 of Westbrook (formerly of George, Iowa)
passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan
Center in Westbrook, MN.
Funeral Services will be held at the Presbyterian
Church in Westbrook at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5. Burial will
be in the Westbrook Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday
at the Westbrook Funeral Home and will continue on Friday, one hour
prior to the service at the church. The Westbrook Funeral Home is

William “Richard” Willemssen was born February 3, 1912
in George, Iowa to Anthony and Maggie Willemssen. He attended country
school near George, Iowa, and began farming with his Dad when his
schooling ended. Richard was united in marriage to Mildred Schroeder
on January 22, 1937. He and Mildred moved to the Westbrook area
in 1957 and continued farming there until retiring and moving into
Westbrook in the early 1970’s. He has resided in the same
house since. Richard enjoyed working and visiting with friends and
family.
He is survived by his wife Mildred of 72 years; children: Colleen
(Tom) Odenbrett of Vermillion, SD and Merle (Rosemary) Willemssen
of Dundee; grandchildren: Mark Willemssen and Shelly (Dave) Brunick;
great grandchildren: Travis Kirpach, Ashley, Ryan and Michael Brunick,
Madeline and Elizabeth Willemssen; One sister Vera Goldhorn of Cherokee,
Iowa and many other relatives and friends.He is preceded in death
by his parents, grandsons: Paul and Matthew, Timmy and Christopher.
