Leo L. Vosberg

Leo Lawrence Vosberg age 73 of Westbrook passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls South Dakota.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 9th at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Westbrook Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment is in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Dovray. Email condolences may be sent via www.westbrookfuneral.com. The Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leo Vosberg was born June 14, 1935 on the family farm in Dovray Township to Laurence and Martha (Cohrs) Vosberg. He was baptized on July 21, 1935 at Zion Lutheran Church in Dovray, and confirmed April 10, 1949 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Leo attended school districts #31 and #105 in Murray County before graduating from Westbrook High School in 1954. Leo enlisted in the US Army on May 17, 1955. He served in the United States and Europe before he received his honorable discharge April 23, 1958. After the service, he returned to the Dovray Area and began farming. On April 8, 1967, Leo was united in marriage to RoeAnn Madson at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. He continued farming until retirement in 2003. In 2004, Leo and RoeAnn moved into their home in Westbrook. Leo entered the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center in May 2008. Leo was a lifetime member of the VFW, and was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served as an usher in his younger years. He also belonged to the Red Rock Sportsman’s Club. Leo enjoyed fishing, wood working and playing golf. He once recorded a hole in one at the Rolling Hills Golf Club. Leo also enjoyed playing Cribbage and Pinochle.

Leo is survived by his wife RoeAnn of 43 years; one sister Frances Jorgenson and husband LaMoine of Westbrook; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, and a sister Arlene Lintner.
