Nora “Betty” Willhite Nora Elizabeth “Betty” Willhite age 76 of Walnut Grove passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 19, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Nora Elizabeth “Betty” Willhite was born November 22, 1932, the first child born to Cleo and Martha (Bott) Willhite. Betty graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1951. Over the years, she worked a number of jobs. She was caregiver and companion to her mother until her mother’s death in 1991. At almost 60 years old Betty entered into a new phase of her life, she became a homeowner, and grew in a friendship with Dallas Rank. Friendship grew into love and they became engaged in 2008. In 2008, with the help of her brother Greg and sister in law Rita, they gave her home an “Extreme Home Makeover” Walnut Grove edition. She lived happily in her home until her death on June 19th 2009. Betty had been a life long resident of Walnut Grove. She was also a lifetime member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church where she served faithfully as financial secretary. Betty was also a member of the Tracy VFW Auxiliary #871. Betty is survived by her sister Doris Lessman of Tracy; two brothers
and their spouses: Gary and Lynn of Crookston and Greg and Rita
of Hanover; three nieces, and seven nephews. Her fiancé Dallas
Rank passed away the day after Betty, June 20, 2009. Her parents,
sister Donna and a nephew preceded her in death. |
