Grove, MN. He attended the Holly Country School District #15 until
8th grade and then finished high school in Walnut Grove, graduating
in 1939. Following high school, he attended one year at the Tulsa
Aircraft Mechanic School. After mechanic school, Lenny enlisted
in the Navy, where he served as a tail-gunner and machinist mate.
He maintained and flew on B-24 airplanes in the Pacific Theatre
during WWII, based in Africa. Lenny had a passion for flying. He
obtained his pilot's license, owned several different airplanes,
and gave airplane rides to anyone who asked. Lenny also enjoyed
fishing and went on many fishing trips. After his honorable discharge
from the Navy in 1946, Lenny returned to Walnut Grove and farmed
with his brothers, Paul and Jim. They raised cattle, corn, soybeans,
and small grains. In later years he farmed with Paul, Jim, and nephew
Craig. He also ran the township road grader for Holly Township during
the 60's. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and
served as a past President of the Council.
Lenny is survived by his sister Louise Malmberg (Walnut Grove);
sisters-in-law: Jeane Carter (Walnut Grove) and Janice Carter (Tracy);
and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents;
brothers: Paul, Charles, and James; infant sister Marjorie; and
