Duane A. Arnhold, age
69 of Des Moines, IA, formerly of rural Walnut Grove, passed away
at his home on September 3rd, 2007. A Memorial Service will be held
at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 8th at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Walnut Grove. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the
church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Johnsonville Cemetery.

Duane A. Arnhold was born June 8, 1938 in Redwood County to Arthur
and Mary (Larson) Arnhold, and was baptized at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Walnut Grove. Duane served 3 years in the U.S. Army from
July 14th, 1954 to July 3rd, 1957 during the Korean War. He then
entered the U.S. Navy on February 14th, 1958 where he worked on
the ships’ boilers. After his service, Duane moved to Des
Moines and used his boiler’s license working for the city.
Duane enjoyed gardening and working outside in the yard. He frequently
returned to the area to visit family, but his declining health prevented
him from visiting as often.
Duane is survived by his stepfather Dave Steafal of Owatonna; brother-in-law
Tony Samudio of Albert Lea; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives
and friends. Duane’s sister, Garnette Samudio passed away
on Sunday, March 2nd, 2008. He is preceded in death by his parents,
two sisters, and one niece.
