Marjorie F. Pedersen,
age 100 of Pipestone, MN passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the
Pipestone Good Samaritan Center. Memorial service will be at 11:00
a.m. Saturday, March 8 at First Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Visitation
will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A private
family interment will be held at a later date. The Tyler Area Funeral
Home is handling the arrangements.
Marjorie F. Pedersen was born to Chris and Alice (Olsen) Jensen
on March 6, 1907 in LaPlatte, Nebraska at the family farm. She was
baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of
the First Lutheran Church of Pipestone, Minnesota. She attended
school in Ruthton, Minnesota and Bellview, Nebraska. In 1923 she
was united in marriage to Howard A. Collins of Fort Leavenworth,
Kansas. Howard preceded her in death. In the summer of 1944 she
moved to Ruthton, Minnesota to keep house for her father and to
provide nursing care for her grandfather. In 1953 she moved to Red
Wing, Minnesota where she clerked for a drugstore and later provided
nursing care for the elderly for 12 years.
On June 20, 1959 she was united in marriage to Chris B. Pedersen.
They lived on a farm in Troy Township of Pipestone County and in
August, 1986 they moved into Pipestone. Her husband, Chris preceded
her in death in 1992. Marjorie was a member of the First Lutheran
Church in Pipestone since 1960 and was a member of the Kindness
Circle for 35 years. She also held membership and offices in the
Pipestone Hospital Auxiliary (1960), V.F.W. Auxiliary (1953), and
the Eastern Star (1945) in Ruthton, and in the past several years
was a member of the Pipestone Calumet Order of the Eastern Star.
She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Harold Collins of Sun
City Center, Florida and Kenneth Collins of Woodland Hills, California;
one step-daughter, Arlis (Donald) Werner of Pipestone; one step-son
Harold (Pat) Pedersen of Cambridge, Minnesota; twenty-one grandchildren,
twenty nine great-grandchildren, and three great- great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Chris, a daughter,
Lucille Folstad, and a son, Howard Collins of Red Wing, Minnesota,
one sister, Gladys Conway, of Leavenworth, Kansas, and one brother,
Clarence (Verona) Jensen of Ruthton, MN.
