Marlene McCoy
Marlene McCoy, age 65 of Tracy passed away Saturday, May 30, 2009
at her home following a battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy. Visitation will be
4:00-8:00p.m. Wednesday at the Tracy Area Funeral Home with a 4:00p.m.
CCW Rosary and a 7:00p.m. prayer service.
Visitation will continue one hour prior to the
service at the church on Thursday. The Tracy Area Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.
Marlene Jacqueline (Persoon) McCoy was born January 25, 1944 in
Tyler, Minnesota to Peter and Zoe (DeWitte) Persoon. She was baptized
and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Marlene attended grade school
in Ruthton, and graduated from Pipestone High School. On June 7,
1962 Marlene was united in marriage to Edward L. McCoy at St. Leo’s
Catholic Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. Marlene worked for 22 years
as the Dietary Supervisor and cook at Prairie View Healthcare Center,
and 2 years as a cook at Boulder Estates. She was an active member
of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, serving as a Sunday
School teacher, Eucharistic Minister, and president of the CCW.
Marlene loved vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, and working
alongside her husband on the farm.
Marlene is survived by her husband Ed; daughter Lori (Wayne) Dagel
of Ruthton; 3 grandchildren: Brent (Linzie) Dagel, Jared (Brenda)
Dagel, and Nick Dagel; 4 great-grandchildren: Joseph and Isaac,
Hannah and Tyler; brother Robert (Candy) Persoon of Canistota, SD;
sister Rita McCarty of Baytown, TX; and many other relatives and
friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son Mark.
