Rose Mary Jackson

Rose Mary Jackson, age 94 of Tracy, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a 5:00 p.m. CCW Rosary. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The Tracy Area Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Rose Mary Rubin was born to John and Mary (Mousse) Rubin on February 23, 1915 in Pennsylvania. She grew up on their farm in coal mine country. She was united in marriage to Steve Gyongyose on November 11, 1939 in Pennsylvania. Later, the couple changed their last name to Jackson, but remained proud of their Hungarian heritage. They moved to San Antonio, TX and later to Norwalk, CA where Rose Mary lived for 47 years.

Rose was a member of the Retail Clerks Union and worked for GEMCO stores as a department manager. After her retirement she and Steve enjoyed traveling in their motor home visiting family and friends and also going to Las Vegas. Rose was an avid gardener, excellent Hungarian cook, and enjoyed going to Senior Dining. Her husband passed away in June 2005 and in 2007 Rose moved to Tracy, MN to live with her son. Her last few months were spent at Prairie View Nursing Home.

Survivors include her three sons: Steve (Dea) Jackson of Hillsboro, OR; Francis Jackson (special friend Lenore Gray) of Richmond, CA, and Robert (Mev) Jackson of Tracy, MN; seven grandchildren: Jeff Jackson, Jim Jamerson, Lisa DeLaVergne, Bethany Jackson, Bryan Jackson, Brett Jackson, and Brady Jackson; four great-grandchildren; sister Margaret Vargo of Pennsylvania; and sister-in-law June Rubin of Sun City, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four siblings.
