Gerald Herman Koll

Gerald Herman Koll, age 84 of Flint, MI passed away Sunday April 26, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish rectory, after a few years of fighting Leukemia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Interment is in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. His life will be celebrated also at a mass in Flint, MI at Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Koll is the second son of August Peter and Lorretta (Laubach) Koll. Gerald served in the WWII Asian Theatre. His Military Awards of merit included Bronze Star and Liberty Victory Medals. He is Son, Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin, Friend, and Neighbor. He entered eternal rest in residence at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Flint, MI where he served as Brother Boniface with the Alma Redemptorist Mater. His passage date marks the 60th Wedding anniversary to his beloved companion Eunice B. (Carlson) Koll who precedes him in death. His children and Fr. Tim Nelson were at his side. Surviving children: Gerald J. Koll, Reginald A. Koll, Christine M. Tetrick, Douglas E. Koll, Cynthia K. Linsmeier, and Patricia L. Goche; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in passage by his sister Valeria Wagner and his brothers Ronald Koll, and Ambrose Koll. His brothers Anthony Koll, Richard Koll, and his sister Magorie Shmitz succeed him.
